The Shuswap Hospice Society gratefully acknowledges the generous donation of “Tumbles”, received from Stan & Elizabeth Weleschuk, of Salmon Arm, BC. in June 2014

TumblesFrom a single block of wood, 5 foot tall “Tumbles” came to life through Mowers, a talented Sorrento BC sculptor. Mowers, was commissioned to carve “Tumbles” for previous Salmon Arm business “Bears and Bedtime”. For many years “Tumbles” greeted and offered his high five to all who entered the Salmon Arm teddy bear sales and manufacturing business.

As an ambassador for this teddy bear business “Tumbles” was connected with the wonderful fundraising history, of his 1st owners.  “Bears and Bedtime” manufactured 100’s of theme bears used for over 10 years by CHBC’s annual Christmas food-bank fundraiser. Many donors in the Okanagan/Shuswap were recipients of these bears. Perhaps someone even received a small furry bear called by the same name.

When the business moved to Edmonton “Tumbles” came to live on our Sunnybrae acreage but “Tumbles” yearns to come out of retirement and again be useful. He loves people and picnics and is eager to greet children, both young and old.  Cheerfully we let “Tumbles” join Shuswap Hospice Society to continue living out a purpose for which he was created 20+ years ago.
